The Dauphin Kings now have an 11 point lead atop the West Division after they downed the Neepawa Titans, 3-2, in overtime Tuesday night.
It was a game in which Emerik Demers was outstanding for Neepawa as he turned away 35 shots, some of which were highlight-reel saves, but it wasn’t quite enough.
Neepawa opened the scoring 9:26 in as Ste. Rose’s Jaegar Lapointe scored his 22nd of the season to give Neepawa a 1-0 lead. Dauphin rebounded very quickly as Garrett Hrechka scored his sixth of the season just 19 seconds later. Nick Braun scored with just more than seven minutes left to give the Kings a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes.
Kalen Reynolds scored his first of the season in the second as the game was tied after 40 minutes. The two teams combined for 12 shots in the third; however, not one beat Demers or Keaton Woolsey as the game was overtime bound.
In overtime, Brayden Dube streaked down the left side of the ice and centered a pass for Logan Calder who tipped it past Demers for the win and a full two points.
Dauphin moves to 35-11-1 with the win, good for 71 points. Neepawa; meanwhile, are now 18-21-4-5, which puts them two points behind the fourth and final playoff spot.
The two teams will meet Friday in Neepawa.
Game notes:
- Calder’s goal in overtime was his first with Dauphin
- The Kings won their fifth overtime contest, that’s tied for the most in the league

The Parkland U18 Rangers did what they had to do on Louis Riel Monday and that was beat the Winnipeg Bruins in regulation. They then needed some help in order to finish fifth in the league heading into the playoffs and they got that help.
The Winnipeg Wild scored three times in the third period back on Sunday and their win over Southwest clinched fifth place for Parkland. The Rangers haven't made the playoffs since the 2016-17 season when they finished in eighth place. This year's team finished three places higher and they're ready for the playoffs.
"It's very exciting making the playoffs, it's been our goal since day one," said Tyler Carefoot. "This is a group that has put pride back into the Rangers jersey. We're in a position where if we can go on a run, we can generate more excitement for the program."
Parkland's first-round opponent is the Yellowhead Chiefs who also won 18 games but finished in fourth with two more points. The Rangers had their way against Yellowhead in the regular season, winning all four meetings against them. Yellowhead lost two of their last three while Parkland enters the series with two straight wins.
Game one is Thursday in Shoal Lake before the series returns to Credit Union Place on Sunday night.
"They're a super gritty team that plays an in our face type of game, we have to match that," said Carefoot. "If we can keep them to 5-on-5, we believe we're a bit deeper."

Only two AAA teams at the U15 level outside of Brandon or Winnipeg made the A-side playoffs this season and although one of their seasons has come to an end, it was still a great one for the Parkland U15 Rangers.
The club with players from all over the Parkland lost in game five of their first-round series with the Bruins Gold on Saturday evening. Parkland defended home ice perfectly in the series-winning both games; however, they came up short in picking up any wins on the road.
Parkland won 19 games this season in the regular season which put them in sixth place ahead of the playoffs. Cade Legaarden led the team in playoff points with eight while Tavyn Boychuk had seven. 13 players, in all, recorded at least a point for Parkland while Chase Glover and Owen Martyniuk both saw action in the net.
"I'm very proud of the group, we came such a long way from the start," said Tom White. "Considering everyone lost basically a full year of hockey, they took a real big step into the AAA program and did so well. It didn't end how we wanted to but these players should be holding their heads high, they deserve it."
One of the highlights of the regular season was the team winning five of their final six games and they went 100% on the penalty kill in the final six contests. Luke Myhre's 46 points were the most on the team, with Hayden Shtykalo, Tavyn Boychuk and Ryan Gower all recording at least 34 points.
"It was a really solid effort from everyone, they put everything they had into every game," said White. "We also had two quality goaltenders this year which is a big thing for the Parkland. There is a lot to be excited about when it comes to hockey in the Parkland."
Sam Swanton was the team's captain this year while alternate captains were Gower, Boychuk and Myhre.
Six players from this year's team are eligible to return next season while the remaining players are eligible to join the U18 Rangers.

The Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy U15 AA Kings started firing on all cylinders when they needed to and as a result, they brought a championship back to town.
Playing in a tournament in Beausejour, the team played three games on Sunday, capped off with a 4-1 win against the host team in the championship final.
After opening the tournament with a 6-1 loss against Regina, Boston Karlson scored the overtime winner in their second game and that was followed up with a 6-0 win against Springfield in the quarterfinals. The team got their revenge against Regina in the semifinal before winning the final as well.
"It felt very rewarding as the boys put in a lot of very hard work," said Fillion. "We had to take the long route on Sunday and we had to beat three very good teams to win it all."
The team has won two titles this year and lost in the final in another.

Jordan Height, Josh Beyette, Brandon Wood and Tyler Rushinka have entered the winner's circle.
The foursome claimed the championship as Mackenzie Middle School held their bonspiel earlier this week at the Dauphin Curling Club. The team went 4-0 and capped off the event with a win against Team Mitchell Rauliuk in the finals. Height was the team's skip and he said the foursome improved as the event went on.
"We continued to get better and we were making more shots towards the end," said Height. "We played really well in the final against a very solid Rauliuk team."
12 teams competed this year in the local middle school league that ran every Tuesday from October to February. Height says winning the title with his great friends was a dream come true.
"It was awesome winning the championship," said Height. "It's such a great feeling to have, really happy with it."
Jordan takes part in the high-performance program every week and his ultimate goal on the ice is to qualify for the U18 provincial championships.
The Second Event was won by the team of Lucas Boulbria, Garret Sahulka, Kessler Thompson, and Garret Urichen who squeaked out a win over the Mikey Maksymetz team.
The Third Event was won by the team of Megan Bechard, Bryanne Higgins, Denny Lenius, and Haylee Derhak who narrowly defeated the Aiden Lebel team.
