When the Manitoba Winter Games kick off in early March, Emma Jensen and her curling team will be there, as they look to make it to the podium.
The Jensen rink, consisting of Ochre River's Emma Jensen, Jaycee Terrick and Kaitlyn Szewczyk from McCreary, and Gilbert Plains Gracey Gulak won their only game at a qualifier this past weekend.
"It means a lot," said Jensen. "Going to the games was our main goal all year. We were hoping we could qualify, and we did, so it's really exciting."
The curling competition at the games is an eight-team format.
"My expectations at the games are just playing the best I can," said Jensen. "And, as a team, we're just going to give it our all, and hopefully we can win a few games."
Jensen and her rink will play in the U-18 women's competition from March 4-7.
"I'm really looking forward to the whole experience," said Jensen. "We've never been there before, so it's going to be really cool."
All the curling action takes place at the Burntwood Curling Club.
