After starting the season with the Everett Silvertips, Dauphin's Mark Liwiski is settling in nicely with the OCN Blizzard.

The Blizzard are 22-14-5 this season and sit in sixth place, but have been struggling in January, as they've gone 0-3-2 this year.

"Things have been going okay," said Liwiski. "Obviously the past few games haven't been the best. But we know we can play better, and just continue on. The guys are great, and the coaching staff is good."

In 17 games since joining the Blizzard, the Dauphin native has eight points (4G, 4A).

"I feel I have to be more consistent," said Liwiski. "I started off kind of slow, but I just need to keep working my way up. It's a bigger league with the number of 20-year-olds, but if I just keep working hard, and going to practice, things will work out."

After a trade deadline deal landed the Blizzard Riley Shamray, Mark and the rest of the team are ready to make a push to win it all this season.

"We have the confidence in ourselves that we can go deep," said Liwiski. "You want to be part of a winning culture. It's fun to win. So hopefully things are going to work out, and we can make it all the way."

As Liwiski continues his elite hockey career, he knows what he has to do to get to the next level once again.

"I just need to work on the little things," said Liwiski. "For me, I need to work on my skating and my mobility. Talent can only take you so far, it's about the small things you do on and off the ice."

Liwiski and the rest of the Blizzard are back on home ice this weekend when they welcome Winnipeg to the Pas.

Next Tuesday, Liwiski and the Blizzard welcome the Dauphin Kings to town, and you can hear that game right here on 730CKDM kicking off the pregame show at 6:50.
