It was a battle that needed a shootout, but in the end, the Dauphin AA Atom Kings will settle for second place, after a hard-fought, 5-4 shootout loss against Virden this morning at the Home Hardware Atomic Showdown in Dauphin.

The Kings trailed 4-1 after two periods, but they clawed their way back and tied the game up at four. Jayton Kabel had two regulation goals for the Kings, while Cody Zurba had one and Luke Myhre tied the game up at four with just 6:03 left in the final stanza.

In the end, Hudson Davidson scored the winner for Virden in the shootout, in what was a fantastic game to cap off the tournament for both teams.
