It was a long time coming for Ryan Pulock to suit up in an NHL game this year, but when he did, he didn't take long to get on the scoresheet as he assisted on the Islanders first powerplay goal of the season.

"It was nice to get that assist on my first shift," said Pulock. "It gave me confidence for the rest of the game, and it was definitely nice to get into the game in the first place."

For the first six games of the season, Pulock was in the press box, just waiting for game action.

"Every night you want to be in the lineup," said Pulock. "The situation I'm in, I just have to be patient and understand I'm not going to play every game here for a little while. And when the chance comes, I have to be ready to make the most of it."

The Islanders hit the ice this evening as they take on the Arizona Coyotes, but the Grandview native will not be in the lineup.

"The biggest thing is just staying in shape," said Pulock. "I just have to stay focused and every day, prepare like I'm going to play, and when the opportunity comes, if I do that I will be ready."

Pulock notes playing at MSG against the Rangers earlier this year was extremely special to him.
