There will continue to be 11 teams in the MJHL next season.

The Opaskwayak Cree Nation Blizzard will be returning to the ice next season despite financial issues for the franchise.

President of the Board Dan Moore explains a lot went into getting the team to return.

"We just did a lot of lobbying with the Chiefs and Council, with our Board and certain individuals in the community. We lobbied a few of the councillors when we had three councillors with. We had to get a couple more on our side so we did a lot of our homework and lobbied and tried to make good presentations. That's what they wanted, they wanted to know how we could operate without no help."

Moore talks about the need to raise funds to keep the team long term.

"Our plans are to fundraise right through the year, from now to the end of the 2017-18 season. We got long term plans for fundraising, stuff like that, we're starting slow and to get in place for everything. That's out main goal, is to raise our own funds."

The OCN Blizzard are sitting in 4th place in the MJHL standings.
