A slow start ended up being the downfall for the Dauphin Clippers hockey team.
They dropped their home opener to their Parkland rival Swan Valley Tigers, 3-2 today at Credit Union Place.
The Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second. Riley Hammond got the Clippers back within a couple as he scored with five seconds left in the second.
Logan Storey scored a beauty with 2:33 left in the third to bring the Clippers within one, but that's as close as they would get.
Dauphin returns to Credit Union Place next Sunday at 2:00 p.m. against Sandy Bay.
Before that, they play Major Pratt on Wednesday and McCreary on Friday.
