Gilbert Plains Trojans JV Girls Volleyball in Zone Championships

It's the biggest day of the year so far for the Gilbert Plains Trojans JV girls volleyball team as they will host Zone Championships today.

The format for the tournament is a full round-robin, and the playoffs see the top-ranked round-robin team matching up with the second-ranked round-robin team with a berth in the Provincials on the line.

"We've been kind of reminding them all November that volleyball at this time of the year really matters,” said Daniel Lehman, Head Coach of the team. “If you keep winning, you keep playing and all the players understand that. We’re definitely eager to make the next step, and punch our ticket to Provincials.”

The team will play at 10:00 a.m., 11:40 and they will wrap up their round-robin at 1:20 p.m. The finals will take place at 3:15 this afternoon.

“We’re currently ranked as the best team in the province,” said Leeman. “The fans always say that our team puts on a pretty good show, and there are a bunch of local kids, so every fan will definitely enjoy."

Stay tuned here to 730CKDM to see how the Trojans do throughout the day.
