Shaw is getting set to play in the men's Rural Championships that will be held at the Portage Golf Club that begins tomorrow, and end on Sunday.
The last official tournament Shaw played in was the Manitoba Amateur last month, where he failed to make the cut.
"That was a bit of a disappointment for what I had for expectations," said Shaw. "This one, it's a smaller field but it's a quality field with some pretty good players in it. I have no real expectations, the golf game is where I want it to be, so it's just a matter of going out there, enjoying the course, the day and I hope to put up a couple good numbers."
19 players will hit the tee tomorrow, at the Portage Golf Club which is relatively a short course totaling just 6311 yards.
"It's a shorter golf course, but it's pretty tight," said Shaw. "But as short as it is, it favors a guy who can hit it long off the tee, just because if you hit driver, you can have a lot of wedges into the green. I know shooting under par is something I can achieve.
Shaw is also hoping that if he has a good weekend, he could get a chance to represent the University of Manitoba Bisons golf team.
"It's impossible not to think about that because everything I have done this summer, coming early to the course and putting the work in was to play towards something," said Shaw." My tee time tomorrow is with two guys on that team, so it's something I've been playing towards, and it's coming closer so if I can put two good scores up this weekend, things should be looking good."
Connor will tee off at 12:16 tomorrow alongside Bobby McNair and Josh Neufeld.
