XXXTENTACION - SUSPECT APPEARS IN COURT

A 22-year-old suspect in the shooting death of rapper XXXTentacion is being represented by a public defender. Dedrick Devonshay Williams appeared by video in court yesterday afternoon in Broward County, Florida. He did not speak during the hearing. Williams is charged with first-degree murder without premeditation, as well as not having a valid driver's license and a probation violation.

Authorities say XXXTentacion was ambushed by two suspects outside a motorcycle dealership on Monday. They're still searching for additional suspects. Williams is scheduled to appear before a different judge on Monday regarding the probation violation stemming from a 2014 grand theft auto case.

SAM SMITH - TOUR ROUTINE

Sam Smith's days of partying on tour are over.

Smith says he's completely stopped drinking, cut out smoking and now travels with a personal trainer. He says he had four weeks off and ate a lot of bad food that he's had to work off. After his shows, he says he goes to bed and rests his voice. Sound like no fun? Smith says the time he's onstage is his time to have fun. The North American leg of Smith's tour begins tonight in Detroit and includes dates in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary in September.

PAUL McCARTNEY - ``EGYPT STATION'' ALBUM

Paul McCartney envisions his new album ``Egypt Station'' as a collection of destinations. He says each song is like a station. McCartney named the album after one of his paintings and he says he likes the way ``Egypt Station'' sounds because -- quote

-- ``it reminds me of the 'album' albums we used to make.'' He's released two singles, or what he calls ``double A-sides'': ``Come On To Me'' and ``I Don't Know.'' ''Egypt Station`` comes out September 7th. It will be McCartney's 17th solo album.

DEMI LOVATO - ``SOBER''

Just what is Demi Lovato trying to say with lyrics like ``Momma, I'm so sorry I'm not sober anymore/And daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor''? Lovato sings those lines in a song called ``Sober'' released yesterday. She tweeted a link to the song with the words, ``My truth.'' Lovato has struggled with drugs, alcohol, eating disorders and self-mutilation.

Her representatives did not return a request for comment.
