Scheduled on behalf of the Intermountain Conservation District, Parkland farmers are currently participating in an informational workshop discussing the "pros and cons," of the system at the Watson Art Centre in Dauphin.

According to Agri-ecosystems specialist with Manitoba Agriculture Mitch Timmerman, there are many variables that farmers should ask themselves while considering tile drainage.

"In order to determine whether or not something worked or didn't work, or something is or isn't the problem affecting a crop it's important to collect information take a close look and diagnose what that is before chasing the wrong solution... it's not difficult to convey to farmers that it's important to proceed with caution with what is a fairly expensive investment with tile drainage."

Other topics raised during the workshop were water management, regulations related to tile drainage and tile effects to land and crops.
