When the Winnipeg Blue Bombers begin their preseason on May 24, the team will have a new man up in the booth calling plays. However, he's not really new, he's just new to the position.

The team has announced that former quarterback of the team, Buck Pierce will be the new Offensive Coordinator. Pierce will take over for Paul LaPolice who is now the Head Coach of the Ottawa Redblacks.

This season will be Buck's seventh with the organization. The past four he's been the quarterback's coach and the prior to before that, he was a tutor to the running backs.

"I'm really excited about it, it's a really exciting opportunity for me," said Pierce. "Winnipeg is a home for me, I've been here for a long time. I've really enjoyed what I have been doing over the past couple of years with the team and I feel I've grown a lot. I'm excited to take the next step."

Although this will be Buck's first season as an OC, it's not like he won't already know the ropes. As a quarterback's coach, he worked under Paul and being a quarterback in the past could give him an edge.

"I think there may be some unexpected things when I do it the first time," he said. "We have really good people here, however, so I've learned from a lot of great people in the past. It's been a process and I've trusted the entire thing. I'm a confident guy and I'm ready for this."

It's also been reported that the team will heavily pursue Zach Collaros. He led the team to their first Grey Cup in 29 years this past season.

"We're not going to comment on any of the reports out there," concluded Pierce. "I think everyone would love to have all three back, they can all win games."

The other two Buck is speaking of are Matt Nichols and Chris Streveler.
