SAM SMITH FANS BRING THE LOVE When Sam Smith released his ``In The Lonely Hour'' album, he pretty much told the world he's lonely and looking for love. It's because of that album that he's not so worried about that stuff anymore. Smith says he used to hate it when celebrities said it, but he admits that the fans have filled the hole in his life. He says when he sings his songs and they sing back, it's like they're giving him a massive hug. His dilemma, though, is what's next. Smith says everyone, including himself, wants more, and he hasn't figured out how it should end. He says he's gone on a few dates but has not yet found true love. --- JOHN FOGERTY ADDRESSES ``FORTUNATE SON'' CONTROVERSY John Fogerty has an even-handed response to the controversy around Bruce Springsteen performing ``Fortunate Son'' at the Concert for Valor on…
KID ROCK TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM "FIRST KISS" FEBRUARY 24TH ON WARNER BROS. RECORDS Detroit, MI - Kid Rock announces today that his new album "First Kiss" will be released on February 24th. The album, his first on Warner Bros. Records, was produced by Kid Rock (with the exception of two songs which were co-produced by Dann Huff) and was recorded at his studio in Michigan. Following the success of 2012's "Rebel Soul" and the accompanying "$20 Best Night Ever Tour," Kid Rock wasted no time getting back to work in the studio. The massive touring on the last album cycle allowed Kid Rock to play in front of over 550,000 people in one summer, and left him energized to write and record new material without taking much of a break. Plans for an even more ambitious Summer 2015 tour with his Twisted Brown Trucker Band will be announced shortly.…

Music News for Thursday, November 13, 2014 ROBERT PLANT, RICHARD BRANSON DENY REUNION OFFER WAS EVER MADE The idea of Robert Plant ripping up an $800 million contract is quite an image. Too bad it didn't actually happen. A British tabloid had reported Virgin boss Richard Branson had made the offer for Led Zeppelin to reform and that Plant tore up the contract. Plant's spokesman, Ken Weinstein, says Plant has not been offered anything about Led Zeppelin gigs in recent months and hasn't met or communicated with Branson in 50 years. Branson himself says in a blog post he's ``dazed and confused'' about the reports he made an offer, which he calls ``completely untrue.'' However, he says he did speak with Plant and they agree it's ``complete rubbish.'' --- MEDICAL EXAMINER: JIMI JAMISON DIED OF STROKE, METH USE It wasn't a heart attack that killed Survivor singer Jimi Jamison after…

MUSIC NEWS: BOOKS-GILLER-THEREMIN Have you ever heard the theremin being played? No, it's not the trilling whistle surfing through the Beach Boys' ``Good Vibrations'' -- that was a Tannerin, or electro-theremin. Nor was the theremin used for the quivering birdsong through the theme from ``Star Trek.'' That was the voice of studio soprano Loulie Jean Norman. The theremin is seen as a mystery of an instrument, a magic trick to play. And Sean Michaels, who wrote a Scotiabank Giller Prize-nominated novel inspired in part by the theremin, admits he's basically terrible at playing it. Michaels acquired two of the instruments for himself, but concedes -- quote -- ``I'm incompetent.''
