MUSIC NEWS: THURSDAY, JANUARY 15, 2015 RICK SPRINGFIELD CRIES DURING TESTIMONY Rick Springfield is on trial again for allegedly falling onto a woman and causing serious injuries. The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports Springfield broke into tears during testimony Tuesday in New York Supreme Court. Vicki Calcagno is suing Springfield for his performance at the 2004 New York State Fair. She says he came into the crowd and put one foot on the back of a metal bench and the other on a white fence. She says he fell backward and his rear end hit her forehead and knocked her unconscious, leaving her with lasting injuries. Springfield's manager testified he watches Springfield intently at every show and never saw Springfield fall. MUSIC NEWS: TUESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2015 NASHVILLE'S MUSIC ROW GETS ``NATIONAL TREASURE'' STATUS Ben Folds feels if Music Row disappears, Nashville will lose part of its identity. He doesn't have to worry any more. The National Trust for Historic Preservation has announced it's placing Music Row on its ``National Treasure'' list of historically significant sites threatened by development. Folds has rented R-C-A Studio A for 12 years and lead the effort in keeping a developer from razing it to build luxury condominiums. The studio was developed by Chet Atkins and has been the site of recording sessions by Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, among others. Music News: Monday, January 12, 2015 VAN HALEN NAME DISPUTE SETTLED Van Halen has settled a lawsuit with the ex-wife of drummer Alex Van Halen over the use of her name. An attorney for Kelly Van Halen tells The Hollywood Reporter she may use her full name for her business but she must stay away from music-related ventures. Kelly Van Halen fought for four years for the right to use the name for her construction and interior design company, even though she and Alex Van Halen divorced twenty years ago. The band had argued her trademarks were confusingly similar to theirs and she was diluting the Van Halen brand.
