MUSIC NEWS: THURSDAY, MAY 11, 2017 BEATLES - BBC - ``A DAY IN THE LIFE'' Not everyone was crazy about the ``Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'' album when it came out in 1967. The Beatles have posted online the letter they got from the B-B-C banning ``A Day In The Life.'' Frank Gillard, the director of B-B-C's sound broadcasting, wrote to them in May 1967 that his team had determined ``the words 'I'd love to turn you on,' followed by that mounting montage of sound, could have a rather sinister meaning.'' He wrote that the song may have been ``made in innocence and good faith,'' but the phrase ``turned on'' is ``currently much in vogue in the jargon of drug-addicts.'' The 50th anniversary of the release of ``Sgt. Pepper'' is in June. --- ROBERT MILES - OBIT The European D-J who had a 1996 dance hit with the song…
