MUSIC NEWS: WEDNESDAY, MAY 31, 2017 COUNTRY STARS TO HONOUR GREGG ALLMAN AT CMT AWARDS Country's biggest stars will pay tribute to Southern rocker Gregg Allman at the CMT Music Awards with performances from Jason Aldean, Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, Darius Rucker and more. CMT President Brian Philips said in a statement Wednesday that after Allman's death Saturday, artists started reaching out to see how they could honour Allman during the show, which will air June 7. Philips said the Allman Brothers Band created the ``bedrock foundation of modern Southern music.'' In addition, CMT announced that Little Big Town and Kelsea Ballerini, who is a leading nominee, will both be performing during the awards show. MUSIC NEWS: TUESDAY, MAY 30, 2017 GREGG ALLMAN - AGENT Gregg Allman's agent says Allman fought the cancellations of his shows this year ``kicking and screaming.'' C-J Strock with the W-M-E agency tells Billboard magazine -- quote -- ``That was not a conversation any of us enjoyed.'' Strock says they made the decision to call off Allman's shows in 2017 to allow him time to recuperate, and it was an eye-opening experience for Allman not to be able to play. He says Allman lived to play live, and he often said music was his medicine. MUSIC NEWS: MONDAY, MAY 29, 2017 OBIT - GREGG ALLMAN SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) _ Gregg Allman's manager says Allman kept quiet about his liver cancer because he didn't want it to affect his career. Manager Michael Lehman says Allman ``wanted to continue to play music until he couldn't.'' Allman died Saturday at his home near Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 69. Allman had kept calling off concerts in the past year for unspecified health reasons. He denied last month he was in hospice. He had a liver transplant in 2010 after contracting hepatitis C. TV MMVAs Hosts Canadian vocal powerhouse Alessia Cara is pairing with Joe Jonas to host this year's iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards. True North Sports and Entertainment will start by bringing in an explosives specialty dog for a sold-out Red Hot Chili Peppers show this Friday. Kevin Donnelly of True North tells CTV Winnipeg that the Manchester bombing, which killed at least 22 people and wounded dozens more, ``changes everything.'' MUSIC NEWS: TUESDAY, MAY 23, 2017 ARIANA GRANDE-CONCERT BLAST At least 22 people have been killed and dozens of others injured at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England. Officials say thousands of young music fans were at the Manchester Arena when an explosion went off as the show was letting out. Grande was not injured, but tweeted how she felt: ``Broken. From the bottom of my heart, I am so so sorry. I don't have words.'' There was panic after the explosion. Police cars, bomb-disposal units and some 60 ambulances raced to the scene as the scale of the carnage became clear. Many parents spent the night searching for children who hadn't turned up after the show. And groups of friends separated by the blast sought to find one another.
