The closure comes as a precautionary measure after water samples taken this summer and fall tested positive for potential Zebra mussels.

 Parks Canada says zebra mussels have not physically been found in RMNP but have found environmental DNA evidence of the mussels.

Whirlpool Lake is closed to all watercraft including canoes and kayaks. More testing will take place in the summer.
