Missing Boy

This will be the third day that hundreds of searchers in southern Manitoba will look for a little boy who disappeared while playing outside his parents home near Austin, 130km west of Winnipeg.

Police have not issued an Amber Alert for two-year-old Chase Martens because they say there's no evidence he was abducted.

Foul play has not been ruled out, although police say that's not the focus of their investigation.

Chase's distraught parents, Thomas and Destiny Martens, are pleading for any information that will lead to their son's safe return.

The Manitoba Party is officially part of the provincial election, running on a platform of extensive tax cuts.

Party President Gary Marshall says they want to cut the PST from 8% to 5%, impose a 10% flat tax, and eliminate the province's business payroll tax.

Darrell Inkster is running in the Manitoba Party in Dauphin, and is the party's only candidate in the Parkland.

Machete Attack

A case of mistaken identity may have been behind a machete attack in downtown Winnipeg that seriously injured a 21-year-old man.

A 16-year-old boy faces attempted murder and other charges in the incident.

Winnipeg police say the man who was attacked may have been mistaken for a member of a street gang partly because of how he was dressed.

However, they say they are not aware of him having any gang associations.

Although the country's terror-threat level has been lowered by one notch, authorities warn another attack is ``likely and possible.''

Prosecutors are expected to decide today whether to charge six people who were taken into custody yesterday during police raids in central Brussels.

Medical examiners suggest it could take weeks to identify those who died.
