The Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with Parkland Community Futures to announce ‘Shop It Forward”! This is an awareness campaign to encourage our community to shop local, when you shop locally, these businesses can give back to our local community to help local organizations in their fundraising.  If you or any family members use local community services or are part of a community group, you can be guaranteed local businesses have donated to this group. So please shop local whenever you can!

The Dauphin Legion is proud to host BBQ fundraisers on the following Friday’s  July 28, Aug 18, and Sept 8. They will start at 11am and go until 1:30. You are encouraged to come out and support this fundraiser event for the Dauphin Legion, and also some tasty BBQ. 

Bannock Burgers are back for the summer, so head to the Dauphin Friendship Centre each Friday until August 25th from 11:30 to 1pm in the front of the Friendship Centre, with proceeds going towards the summer camp programming.

The Gilbert Plains Farmers Market returns every every Wednesday from 4pm to 6:30pm at Heartland Lanes downtown Gilbert Plains until August 30th.

The Dauphin Farmer’s Market is every Friday starting at 4:30 at Hodge Podge in the Parking Lot on Jackson Street. 

The Dauphin Fire Department is hosting a 50/50 Fundraiser, with the draw being held on September 9th, tickets are only $5 each, with only 2000 printed. Get your tickets from any firefighter, or from the fire department.

You are encouraged to attend the 14th Annual Asham Stompers music and dance festival at Reedy Creek / Kinosota, Thursday August 31st to Sunday September 3rd. Only 60 minutes from DauphinIt's a weekend loaded with family fun featuring some great bands and some incredible dancing featuring the Asham Stompers, along with Canada's Got Talent Winners, Sagkeeng's Finest, and more! This year also enjoy an amazing Tribute to the legendary Stompin Tom Connors featuring his son Stompin Taw! More info see www.stomperfest.ca 

Dauphin Rec Services will host Toonie Swims at the Kinsmen Aquatic Center in Dauphin each Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm, throughout the summer until the end of July. This gives you access to the pool, hot tub and waterslide. 

The Dauphin Food Bank is always in need of non perishable food items. Any and all donations are needed including canned soups, pasta sauce, dry pasta, canned meat and fish,dry cereal, oatmeal, brown beans. fruit juices, mac and cheese, canned fruit, and canned tomatoes. Please drop off your items at the collection bin at Safeway, or you can arrange for drop off at the food bank by calling 638-7853. Please check your food donations for best before and expiry dates before donating. 

The Dauphin and District Community Food Bank will be having intake days on the following Thursday's,  July 20, Aug 3, Aug 17, and Aug 31, from 5pm to 8pm. You must come in person and bring your Manitoba Health card. For more information call 638-7853, and leave a message. 

Thursday BBQ's are back at the Fort Dauphin Museum from 11-2pm on July 27th, August 10th, 17th, 24th, and August 31st.

The Parkland Horseman's Association will host their Annual Chuckwagon and Chariot's Racing weekend in Ste.Rose at the PHA Race Track, Friday July 28 to Sunday July 30. Weekend passes and day passes will be available at the gate prior to the races. $25 for weekend pass, day pass is $10. Friday Chuckwagons go at 7pm, on Saturday kids activities at 1pm, 2pm its the D-Town Steppers, Chariot Racing is at 3, calcutta at 4, Chuckwagons at 6, the Cameron Campbell Band at 8pm. On Sunday kids activities at 11am, 1pm it Chariots and 3pm Chuckwagons. Also concession on site, beer gardens, petting zoo, and much more. 

The Gilbert Plains Ladies Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday July 29th, entry fee is only $50 includes golf and a tasty meal, tee off time is 10am. Register in person at the club house or call 548-3030. 

 

AUGUST EVENTS 

The Dauphin Public Library Film Club will host "Everything Will Be" on Tuesday August 1st, 7pm at the Library, free admission, all those who are interested are invited to attend. Also enjoy the "Log Driver's Waltz" on September 5th. 

The Dauphin and District Chamber of Commerce will host their Annual Street Fair on Thursday August 3rd, with a variety of business and food vendors on site throughout the day and an entertainment main stage as well. The Dauphin Knights of Columbus will host an evening Zabava Dance Party on Thursday August 3rd, from 8pm to 1am at the Knights Hall on 11th Avenue. Music by the Zayshley Band, $12.50 per person, everyone is welcome to attend. 

Tickets for Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival are available from the office in Dauphin until Wednesday August 2nd! Celebrate Welcome Home Reunion Weekend in Ochre River, Friday August 4th to Sunday August 6th. There will be a variety of events and activities to celebrate this local homecoming. Check out the Ochre River Reunion 2017 facebook page for more info. 

The Dauphin Knights of Columbus are hosting a Ukrainian Platter Meal at their Hall on 11th Avenue on Friday August 4th from 2pm to 8pm, and on Saturday August 5th from 11:30am to 5pm. The meal features beet buns, perogies, cabbage rolls, sausage, onions and more. For more info call 638-7984. 

Canadian Wrestling Elite Returns to Dauphin on Friday August 4th, at the Dauphin Friendship Center, doors open at 6pm with a meet and greet, bell time is 7pm. Get a meet and greet package with show admission for $22. Regular advance admission is $17 in advance, or $20 at the door for adults. Kids 12 and under $12 in advance, or $15 at the door.

Gilbert Plains Golf Club will once again be holding their annual senior men's and ladies' tournament on Tuesday August 8th. This tournament remains one of the most popular senior tournaments around, as it does not just involve 18 holes of regular golf. Beside the flight winners there are a number of extra activities taking place such as special competitions and of course everyone’s favorite, the door prizes.

The Grandview Kinsmen will host their Annual MudBog weekend Friday August 11 to Sunday August 13, at the Wilson Park Grounds in Grandview. The weekend features the grand parade, party at Wilson Park, Kate's Outlaw Concert, Mud Bog, DJ at the Park, Slo Pitch Tournament, Bone Rattler Pedal Pull, Classic car show, TA Burrows Grand Opening, Lawnmower Races, Muddy Waters BBQ Cook Off, and more. Register and participate in the Manitoba Mud run at the Selo Site in Dauphin on Saturday August 12th. This fun muddy mess has become an annual event in Dauphin attracting participants from across the country. Make your way through various mud soaked obstacles either by yourself, or as a team. Participate in the Birch River Trail Ride, Saturday August 12th and Sunday August 13th. Ride leaves at 10am each day, trail riders and wagons welcome. Adults $25, or $50 for a family. McCreary will host their Annual Fair and Pony and Chariot and Chuckwagon Races, rescheduled to Saturday August 19th and Sunday August 20th. South Parkland Anglican Parish will hold their annual Yard/Basement/Bake Sale on Saturday, August 19 from 8am to 2pm at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Dauphin. If you have items to donate to the sale, please phone 638-8141 and leave a message.

The Dauphin and District Allied Arts Council are proud to bring you award winning singer songwriters the Wilkinson’s Live in Concert at the Watson Art Center in Dauphin on Monday August 28, with special guest Desiree Dorrion. Don't miss the Annual Ashern Rodeo, September Long weekend, Sept 1st to 3rd! Enjoy all of your rodeo events again this year along several community sponsored events as well, this year the Rodeo Committee has team up with the Ashern Chamber of Commerce and Ashern Pioneer Museum to host several events throughout the weekend, keep listening to CKDM as we will announce the events and CKDM will once again broadcast live from Ashern Friday Morning. 

The Dauphin Ag Heritage Club will host their Threshing Day on Saturday September 2nd, 1.5 miles north of Dauphin on Highway #362. Watch the threshing crew bring the nearly century old machinery come alive. There is binding, stooking, chore horse competition, kids play area, and much more. Breakfast is at 9am, with an all day concession. It's a fun event for the whole family. For more info call Don at 638-7515.

Register for and participate in the Annual Riding Mountain Challenge Bike Tour Fundraiser from Dauphin to Clear Lake and back on Saturday September 9th and Sunday September 10th. Cyclists leave from Dauphin to Clear Lake early Saturday morning, arriving back to Dauphin on Sunday. This is fundraiser in support of MS. This is a scenic bike trip through the Riding Mountain National Park. 

Kelleher Ford Sales Dauphin will bring the Drive One For UR School fundraiser to the Onanole School on Saturday September 9th, come out and test drive some brand new Ford Vehicles, and Ford will donate $20 to Onanole School to help in their fundraising efforts.
