Bannock Burgers are back for the summer, so head to the Dauphin Friendship Centre each Friday until August 25th from 11:30 to 1pm in the front of the Friendship Centre, with proceeds going towards the summer camp programming.

The Gilbert Plains Farmers Market returns every every Wednesday from 4pm to 6:30pm at Heartland Lanes downtown Gilbert Plains until August 30th.

Gilbert Plains Drop-in Center is holding a market garden Every Thursday until September 7th. Hours are 11-3pm, with all funds raised going to support the Drop-in Center.

The Dauphin Farmer’s Market is every Friday starting at 4:30 at Hodge Podge in the Parking Lot on Jackson Street. 

The Dauphin Fire Department is hosting a 50/50 Fundraiser, with the draw being held on September 9th, tickets are only $5 each, with only 2000 printed. Get your tickets from any firefighter, or from the fire department. 

You are encouraged to attend the 14th Annual Asham Stompers music and dance festival at Reedy Creek / Kinosota, Thursday August 31st to Sunday September 3rd. Only 60 minutes from DauphinIt's a weekend loaded with family fun featuring some great bands and some incredible dancing featuring the Asham Stompers, along with Canada's Got Talent Winners, Sagkeeng's Finest, and more! This year also enjoy an amazing Tribute to the legendary Stompin Tom Connors featuring his son Stompin Taw! More info see www.stomperfest.ca 

The Dauphin Food Bank is always in need of non perishable food items. Any and all donations are needed including canned soups, pasta sauce, dry pasta, canned meat and fish,dry cereal, oatmeal, brown beans. fruit juices, mac and cheese, canned fruit, and canned tomatoes. Please drop off your items at the collection bin at Safeway, or you can arrange for drop off at the food bank by calling 638-7853. Please check your food donations for best before and expiry dates before donating. 

The Dauphin and District Community Food Bank will be having an intake day on Thursday Aug 31, from 5pm to 8pm. You must come in person and bring your Manitoba Health card. For more information call 638-7853, and leave a message. 

 

AUGUST EVENTS 

The Dauphin & District Chamber of Commerce presents “The Banjo Bowl Experience Auction”. This is an auction that will take place on CKDM on Wednesday August 23 and Thursday August 24. You could win an incredible prize package that consists of a pair of tickets to the Banjo Bowl on September 9 at Investors Group Field, a one night stay at Travelodge Winnipeg East that includes supper & breakfast, sideline access during warm up, a parking pass, and $100 cash for gas and expenses at the stadium.

A group of 8 Men will be painting the UGG elevator at the Inglis Historical site from August 20 to 26. This work is being done on a volunteer basis. As a celebration of the painting there will be an "Elvis and Elevators" karaoke event in the Inglis community hall at 8pm on Friday, August 25. They have two guys in the group that sing Elvis tunes and they are looking for a few other amateur Elvis singers that would join them. Entry is free and there will be awards. You are encouraged to support a fundraising BBQ for the Parkland Humane Society in Dauphin at Jenkins Flooring on Wednesday August 23rd, from 11am to 2pm. All are invited out on this day to help out the PHA. 

The Dauphin Coop kids Club is hosting a summer fun event at Vermillion Park on Wednesday August 23rd from 4pm to 6pm, come out for free hot dogs, drinks and watermelon also bring your teddy bear for storytime. 

You are encouraged to help support the fundraising efforts for those suffering with MS by purchasing a Teen Burger from the local A&W in Dauphin on Thursday August 24, on this day $2 from every teen burger sold will go towards MS Research and support. 

WRTC Health Services and Dauphin Food Bank invite you to participate in a Golf Fundraiser on Thursday August 24th at the Dauphin Lake Golf Course, starting at 1pm. It's a 4 person scramble. Entry fee is only $60 includes golf and prizes. Funds generated from this event will go towards the Dauphin Food Bank. You are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the event. The Winnipegosis Historical Society is holding it's annual Yard and Bake Sale, Friday August 25th and Saturday August 26th. Friday from 10am to 6pm, and Saturday from 9am to 3pm, at the Medd House Garden, there will be great deals and a BBQ at noon on Saturday. 

The Dauphin Friendship Center will host their last Bannock Burger Sale Fundraiser of the summer on Friday August 25, from 11:30am to 1pm in front of the DFC. 

You are encouraged to support a fundraising BBQ at Dean Cooley GM in Dauphin on Friday August 25th, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Get a smokie on a bun, water and fruit for $5, all proceeds go towards the heart and stroke foundation. 

Enjoy another Bud, Spud & Steak Night, or Chicken if you prefer, at the McCreary Golf and Country Club on Friday August 25th! You can support this fundraiser by purchasing your ticket in advance from local McCreary Businesses, at the Clubhouse, or by calling 835-2711. 

Attend the Laurier Card Party at the New Horizon's Center on Friday August 25th, at 7pm. Whist & Bingo with a late lunch. 

You are invited to participate in Color Blast Dauphin's 5k Fun Run on Saturday August 26th, to pre-register and more information check out www.colorblastdauphin.ca this event takes place at the Dauphin Fair Grounds with check in at the Rotary Arena from 8:30am to 9:30am. 

The 19th Annual Cowan Trail Celebration will be held on Saturday August 26, at the Cowan Community Center. Pancake breakfast is 8:30am to 12:30pm, the trail ride lease at 10:30, only $20 per participant and includes supper, beef supper is from 5pm to 7pm, there is also an ATV Poker Derby, silent auction and much more including a wind up dance as well. Enjoy another free outdoor concert this summer in Clear Lake on Saturday August 26, starting at 7pm featuring Doc Walker and special guest Madeline Merlo. 730 CKDM is proud to be a participating sponsor in bringing this great Manitoba Band to Clear Lake this summer. 

The Dauphin and District Allied Arts Council are proud to bring you award winning singer songwriters the Wilkinson’s Live in Concert at the Watson Art Center in Dauphin on Monday August 28, with special guest Desiree Dorrion. Intermountain Ag Supply is hosting a Soybean and Corn Field Day on Tuesday August 29th, from 8:30am to 11am, attend and be a part of the discussion on both Soybeans and Corn, industry experts will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have. Meet at the Intermountain Ag Supply Yard, follow the signs off highway 5 and 10 west of Dauphin.

Don't miss the Annual Ashern Rodeo, September Long weekend, Sept 1st to 3rd! Enjoy all of your rodeo events again this year along several community sponsored events as well, this year the Rodeo Committee has team up with the Ashern Chamber of Commerce and Ashern Pioneer Museum to host several events throughout the weekend. Friday morning Al Gaines takes the CKDM Morning Show to Ashern, also on Friday enjoy the Pig and Corn Roast, street dance, and fireworks. On Saturday it's the pancake breakfast, parade, family activities on main street, 3rd Annual Ashern's Got Talent, Rodeo Events, and Rodeo Social on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning it's the cowboy church service, also the 25th Annual Ashern Pioneer Museum Thresherman's Reunion, also a threshing demo, and 25th Ashern Rodeo. You are encouraged Support the Annual 4H Fundraiser in Dauphin on Friday September 1st. You will find livestock at 5 different sponsor locations within the City of Dauphin > Dean Cooley GM, McDonalds Restaurant, Right-Side Equipment, Canadian Tire, and Showdra (Show-Draw’s) Meats. Make your way to each of these sponsor locations and guess the weight of the Animals on site. 4H will take all the entries and find out who has the closest guess. 1 lucky winner will take home a half side of 4h beef cut and wrapped! Also get in on the on-site raffle, for a chance at winning 2 Weekend VIP Passes to the 2018 Dauphin’s Countryfest, or a family package for the 2018 fair in Dauphin! Thank you to Dauphin’s Countryfest and the Dauphin Ag Society for their sponsorship and support. An additional half side of beef is also included in this raffle draw. The Beef is from the Championship Steer from the 4H Beef Show. 4H Beef will also be featured during the fundraising BBQ that day from Showdra’s meats during the noon hour. 

The Dauphin Ag Heritage Club will host their Threshing Day on Saturday September 2nd, 1.5 miles north of Dauphin on Highway #362. Watch the threshing crew bring the nearly century old machinery come alive. There is binding, stooking, chore horse competition, kids play area, and much more. Breakfast is at 9am, with an all day concession. It's a fun event for the whole family. For more info call Don at 638-7515.

The Dauphin Kings are in action on Sunday September 3rd at Credit Union Place for the annual JoFo Cup, this intersquad game will start at 3pm. All are invited to come out and watch. 

The Dauphin Kings are in exhibition action at home at Credit Union Place on Monday September 4th, hosting Swan Valley, game time is 3pm, all are invited to come out and watch. 

The Dauphin Public Library Film Club will host "Waterwalker" on Tuesday September 5th, 7pm at the Library, free admission, all those who are interested are invited to attend. 

Dauphin Rec Services is hosting the Annual Recreation, Health and Leisure Mart at the Parkland Rec Complex on Wednesday September 6th and Thursday September 7th, from 6pm to 8pm. This is their mass registration night for all of your family's fall and winter activities. 

The Dauphin Legion on Main Street is proud to host a BBQ fundraiser on Friday  September 8, starting at 11am and goes until 1:30. You are encouraged to come out and support this fundraiser event for the Dauphin Legion, and also some tasty BBQ.

The Dauphin Kings are in exhibition action at Credit Union Place on Friday September 8th, hosting the Yorkton Terriers, game time us 7:30pm, all are invited to come out and watch. 

Take in the Makinak Card Party at The Drop In Center on Friday September 8th at 7:30pm. Whist & Bingo with a late lunch.

Register for and participate in the Annual Riding Mountain Challenge Bike Tour Fundraiser from Dauphin to Clear Lake and back on Saturday September 9th and Sunday September 10th. Cyclists leave from Dauphin to Clear Lake early Saturday morning, arriving back to Dauphin on Sunday. This is fundraiser in support of MS. This is a scenic bike trip through the Riding Mountain National Park. 

RAKU Pottery Workshop by Dauphin Pottery and Ceramics Club and Mike Spence. Raku is a tradition pottery method that is perfect for beginners or advanced potters. Mike demonstrates a variety of building and decorating technique’s. Kelleher Ford Sales Dauphin will bring the Drive One For UR School fundraiser to the Onanole School on Saturday September 9th, come out and test drive some brand new Ford Vehicles, and Ford will donate $20 to Onanole School to help in their fundraising efforts. This Drive One 4UR School event goes from 10am to 3pm, also enjoy a BBQ fundraiser on site, and activities for the kids as well.

The Ste.Rose Rec Commission reminds you about some upcoming courses, a babysitting course will be held on Sept 14, 21st, and 28th. A hunters safety course will be held on Saturday October 21st and a Canada Firearms Safety Course will be held on Sunday October 22nd. Register for and participate in the Richard Bogoslowski memorial slow-pitch tournament on Saturday September 16th at the Vermilion Sportsplex in Dauphin. You can register your team at the Parkland Rec Complex. 

You are encouraged to participate in and support the 3rd Annual Red Show Crew Walk in Dauphin at Vermilion Park in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities on Saturday September 16th. Proceeds from this local fundraiser will help support Ronald McDonald House in Winnipeg, several local families have utilized this facility and will continue to benefit from Ronald McDonald House. Registration is at 9am, walk begins at 10am.

Dauphin Rec Services is hosting a Canadian Firearms Safety Course - Non Restricted, on Sunday October 1st and Sunday October 29th at the Lions Den in the Parkland Rec Complex. Participation fee is $70 per person, must be at least 12 years of age. Register at the Parkland Rec Complex or call 622-3112. 

The Dauphin Kings are in action at Credit Union Place on Wednesday October 4th, hosting the Portage Terriers, game time is 7:30pm, come on out and cheer on the Kings as they battle the Terriers. 

The Dauphin and District Allied Arts Council proudly brings you another great Concert at the Watson Art Center on Thursday October 5th featuring the Brothers Landreth. Doors open at 7:30, showtime is 8pm. Get your tickets from the WAC Ticket Office, or call 638-6231. 

Enjoy a live intimate concert at the historic St Paul's Anglican Church in Dauphin on Friday evening October 6th, featuring award winning singer songwriters Saskia and Darrel. Tickets for this show are only $15 each, and can be purchased in advance from Church Members or at the door prior to showtime.

The Dauphin Kings are in action at home against the Virden Oil Capitals at Credit Union Place on Friday December 8th, game time is 7:30pm. This is the Annual Teddy Bear Toss night and hockey card night. 

The Dauphin Kings are in action at home against the Neepawa Natives at Credit Union Place on Sunday December 10th, game time is 7:30pm. This is the night for the Tractor Lotto Draw. 

The Dauphin Kings are in action at home against the Swan Valley Stampeders at Credit Union Place on Tuesday December 19th, game time is 7:30pm. This is the special Christmas Game.
