If you're between the ages of 18 and 39, and derive a minimum of two-thirds of your income from farming, you may qualify for Canada's Outstanding Young Farmers Program.  Manitoba Outstanding Young Farmer will be honored to have the winners represent our province at the national event! If you qualify or know someone who does; you can find out more information about this program, including nomination criteria at www.oyfmanitoba.ca or call Angela at 1-204-448-2162. 

The Dauphin Food Bank is always in need of non perishable food items. Any and all donations are needed including canned soups, pasta sauce, dry pasta, canned meat and fish,dry cereal, oatmeal, brown beans. fruit juices, mac and cheese, canned fruit, and canned tomatoes. Please drop off your items at the collection bin at Safeway, or you can arrange for drop off at the food bank by calling 638-7853. Please check your food donations for best before and expiry dates before donating. 

The Dauphin Community Food Bank will provide food for those in need on specific days each month, be sure to bring your Manitoba Health Card when applying food assistance. You can get food once every four weeks. The Dauphin food bank is located at Parkland Crossing, intake days are on the following Thursdays, from 5pm to 8pm.  Sept 28, Oct 12, Oct 26, Nov 9, Nov 23, Dec 7, Dec 21, and Jan 4. 

Would you or your child be interested in taking the Safety Services Manitoba Babysitter Safety Training Course in Winnipegosis? Materials are aimed at youth 12 years and older to prepare them for the important job of babysitting. If enough interest is shown, the course will be taught in Winnipegosis. Get your tickets for the Parkland Humane Society 3 minute shopping spree at the Dauphin Coop, you can collect up to $1000 in groceries, should you win! Tickets for this raffle are only 3 for $5, with the draw date on October 2nd. These tickets are available from the Parkland Humane Society and from the Coop Gas Stations in Dauphin. 

Walking Wednesdays are back at Credit Union Place in Dauphin! The Dauphin Rotary Club is sponsoring a free day of walking at the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy walking track at Credit Union Place each Wednesday from October 4th to April 25th.

The Dauphin Legion is hosting Legion Week, until Saturday September 23rd, stop by the legion and enjoy all of the activities planned throughout the week. On Tuesday September 19th, the Legion will host their Veterans Luncheon at 12noon, on Saturday September 23rd, the legion will be hosting a supper and Dance with entertainment to follow with Dave Greene. The Annual Grandmother's Walk in support of All exploited Women will be held at the Dauphin Friendship Center on Thursday September 21st, starting with the lighting of the sacred fire at 7am with a pipe ceremony to follow. The walk begins at 10am and a small feast will follow the walk. For more information on the event contact the Dauphin Friendship Center at 638-5707. 

Members of the Dauphin Kings will be at the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy on Thursday September 21st, from 1pm to 4pm selling tickets for the home opener, which is on Saturday September 23rd. Home opener tickets are $10 adults, $5 students, and 12 and under are free.

The Annual Alzheimer Coffee Break campaign returns to Dauphin and the Parkland, Love and Persson Group will host a 2 day Coffee Break on Thursday September 21st and Friday September 22nd. You can show your support to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba and Appreciation to this business. There will be a Manitoba Maple Syrup Festival Planning meeting on Thursday September 21st at the Burrows Trail Arts Council Office in McCreary starting at 4:30, all who are interested are invited to attend. 

Dauphin's Senior Ukrainian Dancers, Sche Raz (Sher-Rozz) for age 35 and up are hosting their open house on Thursday September 21st, starting at 7pm at the Watson Art Center, if you are interested in this group, and what is has to offer, please attend. They are looking for new members to join their fun group. 

Don’t miss another great season of Third Thursday Music Nights at the Dauphin Library, starting back up again on Thursday September 21 with Ray Leclair at the Flatlanders, showtime is 7pm and admission is free. Come out for some great music during these special TTM nights.  

Enjoy anther Home Routes Concert in Dauphin at 419 River Avenue on Thursday September 21, featuring Marco Castillo. Doors open at 7pm, admission is $20 per person. Bring your own beverage and refreshments, kids under 12 are free.

Two artists from Brandon, Chris Reid and Kevin Bertram will be in Dauphin creating art installations along Main Street, these will be done through art workshops within our community September 22 to 25Our community has been asked to contribute to the creative process. The Dauphin Kings kick off their 50th Anniversary season on the Road against Virden, and 730 CKDM will have the broadcast on Friday September 22nd. The Manitoba Plowing Association will be holding their annual Plowing days on Saturday September 23rd & Sunday September 24th, near Carberry,  just 2 miles north of the junction of #1 and #5 highways and 1 half mile west. Admission is free and there will be lots to see.  Vintage tractors and plows will be turning the soil over once again and teams of horses will be working to plow a nice plot.  Starts at 10:00 both Sat & Sun. The Dauphin Derailleurs Cycle Club is hosting a Free Bike Maintenance Clinic and Bike Skills Demo on Sunday September 24th from 10am to 11am at Park Fit in Dauphin, at 304 Main Street, second floor. Ste. Rose School will be hosting its annual Terry Fox Walk on Friday, September 29 at 11:30 a.m. Family members and the public are invited to join in this event. Culture Days return to Dauphin, Friday September 29 to Sunday October 1. Friday starts off with the Monument unveiling of Colonel Barker at CN Park at 11am, there is also a pop concert at CN Park from 12noon to 1:30pm with local musicians and food vendors. Also check out the 150 faces of dauphin at the Library from 10:30am to 5:30pm. It’s a portrait collage celebrating the faces of Dauphin. On Saturday its Dauphin’s Yardfringe, starting at 3:30 at the Watson Art Center traveling by bicycle to different performances throughout the city, there is also an open mic nigh at the Old Firehall at 8pm. On Sunday Bike to the Bronze Age starting at 10:15am, tour all of Dauphin’s monuments by bike. From 1pm to 3pm it’s the Toddler Music and Dance Festival at the Watson Art Center, parents, babies and kids age 6 and under are welcome. OCTOBER EVENTS

Get your tickets for the Montreal Canadians Alumni Tour, in Brandon at Westman Place on Thursday November 30! They will be participating in a charity game against Wheat King Alumni, BU Hockey Alumni, and many other local hockey fanatics and legends. The Montreal Canadians Alumni team is made up of some of the “Habs” most loved players over the years. Tickets are $20, $30 and $95 for VIP Tickets which includes a pre-game meal a Hockey House and meet greet with the Montreal Canadians Alumni before the game. Dauphin Rec Services is hosting a Canadian Firearms Safety Course - Non Restricted, on Sunday October 1st and Sunday October 29th at the Lions Den in the Parkland Rec Complex. Bratstva Ukrainian Dance Studio will host their AGM and information session on Sunday October 1st at the Watson Art Center in Dauphin at 4pm, everyone is invited. The Bratstva Ukrainian Dance Performance Ensemble will also host open auditions on Sunday October 15, 3pm at the Watson Art Center.

Ste.Rose will host the Annual Hoof & Holler Celebrations, October Long weekend! From Friday the 6th to Sunday the 8th! Saturday don't miss the Parade, free wagon rides, wonderland party, chili cook off, fall supper with a performance from the Asham Stompers, and Casino Night. The City of Dauphin Fall Clean-up Campaign will begin Tuesday October 10, in the Day 4 Area in the back lane. Crews will progress in reverse through the 4 - day cycle, collecting garden waste, grass, leaves, shrubs and tree branches, in a clearly identifiable pile. Residences that do not have a back lane, please place your items on the boulevard near the curb. Composting materials can be dropped off anytime at City Waste Disposal Site northwest of Dauphin.  No plastic bags, house or commercial garbage or scrap are permitted in the compost site. The Parkland Mental Health Promotion Committee will host the Annual Chili Cook-Off on Wednesday October 11th, from 6pm to 8pm at the Dauphin Friendship Center. Admission is only $2. The 20-17 Grandview Fall Craft and Trade Show will be held on Saturday October 14, at the Grandview Kinsmen Community Center, between 10am and 4pm. Admission is only $3. The Dauphin Rotary Club is one again hosting their Annual Wine Tasting Evening on Friday October 27, from 7pm to 10pm upstairs at the Parkland Rec Complex.
